In Udhampur, 341 fully damaged homes will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 34 crore. The construction cost of these new three-bedroom prefabricated Smart Homes for the affected families will be borne by the High-range Rural Development Society (HRDS India).Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor expressed gratitude to HRDS-India for the noble initiative to shape the better future of flood-affected families.  He directed the district administration for inclusion of all the genuine beneficiaries.“I will personally ensure that every poor affected family has a roof over their heads,” the Lieutenant Governor said. In the first phase, a total of 1,500 homes will be built across the Union Territory for families affected by recent natural calamities and unprovoked Pakistani shelling during Operation Sindoor.  Construction to be completed within six months from the start of the foundation work. Specific techniques will be used to build comfortable, stronger and more resilient pre-fabricated homes.HRDS-India will provide free life insurance coverage to all family members for the next 15 years. HRDS-India will also provide free health checkups to all family members every year.  The houses will include specific facilities like cowsheds. HRDS-India will also cover maintenance for the next 5 years. This substantial allocation is earmarked for the completion of critical road projects to connect the unconnected habitations.13 Next of Kins (NoKs) of terror victims in Ramban were provided government jobs. The remaining eligible families will receive their appointments soon, he further said.Ms Saritha P. A black Swift Dzire (PB 32 K 0399) coming from Srinagar towards Udhampur was stopped for checking. The driver identified himself as *Bikram Singh S/o Jaipal, R/o Phirni Majra, Tehsil Balachaur, District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Punjab.*During the search of the vehicle, two plastic bags containing a total of 27.05 kg of poppy straw were recovered from the vehicle.The driver failed to provide any satisfactory explanation for the possession of the contraband.Consequently, FIR No. 124/2025 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chenani. Further investigation is in progress.

Labour Commissioner J&K Issues Final Compliance Notice to Non-Filing Trade Unions Jammu, November 22: In a significant move to strengthen transparency and statutory governance, Labour Commissioner, J&K & Registrar Trade Unions, Jammu & Kashmir, has issued a fresh and final notice dated November 20, 2025, directing all defaulting Trade Unions and Associations to immediately submit their pending Annual Returns within 10 days. Under Section 28 of the Trade Unions Act, 1926, every registered trade union is required to file its Annual Returns for the year ending 31st December by 31st July of the following year. However, despite repeated reminders and earlier notices issued by the department, a considerable number of unions have continued to remain non-compliant. Referring to the earlier notices that had clearly called upon the unions to fulfil this mandatory statutory requirement, the Labour Commissioner has now issued a final compliance directive. Unions that still fail to file their pending returns within the stipulated 10-day period will be considered defaulters with no further opportunity for explanation, making them liable for strict action, including the cancellation of their registration. S. Charandeep Singh, JKAS, Labour Commissioner J&K & Registrar Trade Unions, J&K, has emphasized that submission of Annual Returns is not only a legal obligation but also essential for ensuring accountability, transparency, and proper functioning of trade unions across the Union Territory. The Labour Commissioner J&K directed all Deputy Labour Commissioners and Assistant Labour Commissioners to ensure compliance at once and verify that all returns are submitted in Form ‘D’ within the prescribed period. The Labour Department reiterated that maintaining proper records, adhering to statutory reporting requirements, and complying with by-laws are fundamental duties of every registered trade union. All defaulting unions have been urged to treat this final notice with utmost seriousness and complete their pending submissions without delay to avoid statutory consequences.

RAMBAN POLICE ARRESTS ABSCONDER & TRACES OUT A MISSING LADY Ramban, November 19 Continuing its firm commitment towards maintaining law and order, District Police Ramban achieved two significant breakthroughs, arrest of a long-absconding accused and the successful recovery of a missing woman in separate actions carried out by police teams.In a major breakthrough under the ongoing drive against absconders, a police team of Police Station Ramban led by ASI Ravinder Kumar Sharma (EXJ-966407) and SgCt Shubam Verma (674/RBN) arrested Zahir Abass, who had been evading arrest since 2019. The accused, Zahir Abass S/O Lal Din R/O Gursai, District Poonch, was wanted in FIR No. 183/2018 U/S 379 RPC registered at PS Ramban. A warrant under Section 335 BNSS (512 CrPC) had been issued by the Hon’ble Addl. Special Mobile Magistrate, Ramban for his arrest.The apprehended absconder will be produced before the Hon’ble Court for further legal proceedings.In another significant development, Ramban Police traced a missing woman reported from the district.A missing report of Rubeena Begum (35 years), W/O Rakhil Ahmed, had been registered vide DDR No. 15 dated 12.11.2025 at Police Station Ramban. The search was entrusted to PSI Reshiv Choudhary.Through technical assistance and reliable sources, the police team successfully located the missing lady at her sister’s home in Kishtwar. She has been safely recovered and handed over to her husband after completion of legal formalities.District Police Ramban reaffirms its commitment to public safety and security by ensuring swift action against absconders and prompt tracing of missing persons.
*SSP Kathua undertook comprehensive ground review of anti infiltration grid*To review operational preparedness in Lower Kathua , SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma , IPS accompanied by SP(Operations) Mukund Tibrewal, IPS , SDPO Border Dheeraj Katoch, DSP(ops) Pushpa and other officers visited remote villages & security camps in jurisdiction of Hiranagar & Rajbagh.SSP visited Outpost Malaman & Outpost Chingara of Police Station Rajbagh , and interacted with personnel deployed there. She was briefed about past infiltration routes, existing Village Defense Guards(VDGs) and other important landmarks in the area. Further SSP directed all personnel, to keep close watch on OGWs , to maintain proper record of movement of migratory population and to identify more volunteers who can be further inducted in VDG scheme.She also visited infiltration prone areas of Pacca Kota , Parangoli , Mangloor & Saida. Here she interacted with SOG & CRPF personnel, who were undertaking Cordon & Search operations in nearby forest areas. She reviewed arms , ammutions and other ancillary equipment’s available with the force and directed them to continue Long Range Patrols(LRPs) with twin objective of improving local outreach and increasing terrain familiarity.Further SSP visited also visited Baba Sidh Goriya temple cum forest, here she interacted with locals and was briefed about infiltration routes in Kamad forest area. *BOVINE SMUGGLING ATTEMPT FOILED BY  PS LAKHANPUR; 08 BOVINES RESCUED; 01 PERSON ARRESTED & SEIZED TRUCK INVOLVED*PRESS RELEASE;KATHUA, 19 NOV:-Tightening the noose of bovine smugglers within the district, J&K Police Kathua under the overall supervision of *SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma-IPS*, rescued  08 bovines from NHW Lakhanpur area, 01 Person arrested and  seized 01 vehicle ( Truck ) involved.On dated 18.11.2025  a police team of PS Lakhanpur led by SHO P/S Lakhanpur Insp. Tariq Ahmed under the guidance of *Addl. SP Kathua Sh. Rahul Charak JKPS* & DySP DAR Kathua Sh. Ritesh Samyal during naka/ checking NHW Lakhanpur area  noticed the movement of one suspicious  vehicle ( Truck) bearing Reg. no. PB02EN-5298 which was being driven by a person namely Raj Masi S/o Romesh Masih R/o Kalanoor District Gurdaspur PB who was enrouted from Kathua towards Jammu was signalled to stop for checking.During checking of the said vehicle, 08 bovines(07 Cows & 01 Oxen)  were found loaded in the vehicle mercilessily which were rescued, Driver arrested  and 01 truck was seized on spot.On this, an instant case has been registered at P/S Lakhanpur vide FIR No. 141/2025 U/S 223/BNS, 11/PCA act while further investigation into this matter has been set into motion.#Kathua Police is striving hard and taking every possible step especially to curb the Bovine Smuggling menace from society. *01 Missing Lady traced out & reunited with her Family members by P/S  Billawar* Kathua; 19 Nov:- J&K Police Kathua under the overall supervision of *SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita  Sharma IPS* traced out one  missing lady and reunited her with family members in the jurisdictional  area of PS Billawar.On 08-08-2025 one person  namely Rattan Singh S/O Giyan Singh   R/O Khari Tehsil Billawar, Distt.Kathua came at this P/S and lodged a written complaint regarding missing of his Daughter  namely Ranju Devi  Age-  18  years D/O Rattan Singh  R/O Khari  Tehsil Billawar. On receiving a complaint a missing report was  entered at this P/S Billawar vide GD No.15  dated 08-08-2025 and a team of P/S  Billawar led by *SHO Billawar Insp Zaheer Mushtaq under the supervision of SDPO Billawar Sh Neeraj Padyar* searched various places,  checked  CCTV camera installed in the area and with  technical assistance along with timely human intervention  recovered the missing  lady.After completing all legal formalities the said missing lady  handed over to her legal heirs. Both failed to justify the possession of the contraband and were arrested on the spot.FIR No. 121/2025 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Chenani. Further investigation is in progress.*With this arrest, total number of drug Peddlers arrested by Udhampur Police this year has reached 168*
