The initiative aimed to strengthen leadership capacity among young officers by familiarising them with contemporary policing challenges, national priorities, and modern strategic frameworks.2. The event opened with a welcome address by Sh. Jatinder Singh Johar, IPS, Director Police Telecom, who summarised key outcomes of the national DGsP/IGsP Conference. He reaffirmed the mandate of enabling young officers to contribute meaningfully to policy discussions and highlighted how the seminar aligns with national policing priorities.3. The conference witnessed the presence of senior leadership, including Sh Nalin Prabhat, IPS, DGP J&K; Sh MK Sinha, IPS, ADGP HQ; Sh Uttam Chand, IPS, IGP Ops; Sh BS Tuti, IPS, IGP Jammu; Sh Vivek Gupta, IPS, IGP Railways; Sh Sujit Kumar, IPS, IGP Security & Crime; Range DIGs of Jammu Zone, DIG IRP Jammu, District SSsP of Jammu Zone, Senior Officers from the other wings; SO to IGP Jammu; and a wide spectrum of young officers from across Jammu Zone. 4. Initiating thematic deliberations, Sh. Amod Nagpure, IPS, SSP Udhampur, presented on the region’s escalating drug menace. He outlined trafficking routes, financing patterns, and cross-border dimensions, stressing coordinated interdiction, stronger community engagement, and improved prosecution for effective disruption.5. Continuing the strategic flow, Sh. Shridhar Patil, IPS, DIG DKR Range, discussed the Police Technology Mission, highlighting AI-led surveillance, predictive analysis tools, real-time crime platforms, and digital evidence systems. He urged young officers to drive technology-led policing at the field level.6. Operational preparedness was reinforced through a presentation by Sh. Shafqat Hussain, JKPS, SSP Poonch, who detailed modern crowd-control principles. He emphasised calibrated force, non-lethal options, formation management, and communication-driven de-escalation, underscoring discipline and readiness in public order duties.7. Addressing cyber challenges, Sh. Kameshwar Puri, JKPS, SP PC Jammu, outlined rising cyber frauds, online radicalisation, encryption hurdles, and digital vulnerabilities. He highlighted the need for skilled manpower, strengthened cyber units, and robust district-level response systems.8. Broadening the strategic perspective, Ms. Mohita Sharma, IPS, SSP Kathua, delivered an insightful briefing on evolving international geopolitics and its regional implications. She highlighted key global shifts, emerging power dynamics, and cross-border developments that influence security scenarios, explaining how these trends shape operational challenges and policing priorities in the border-sensitive areas of Jammu Zone.9. On intelligence strengthening, Sh. Arun Gupta, JKPS, SSP Ramban, emphasised enhanced HUMINT-TECHINT integration, streamlined agency coordination, stronger community networks, and timely operational feedback to improve threat anticipation and response capability.10. Focusing on institutional advancement, Sh. Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS, IGP Jammu Zone, outlined the transition to data-driven policing. He discussed analytical frameworks, real-time dashboards, machine-learning tools, and structured decision-making, encouraging officers to adopt evidence-based operational practices.11. Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, DGP J&K, Shri Nalin Prabhat, IPS, reflected on the need for disciplined field conduct, professional weapon handling, and constant preparedness. He stressed that data-driven strategies, technological adoption, and high-quality training standards will fundamentally shape the next generation of police leadership, urging young officers to lead by example.12. The conference concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Sh. Shiv Kumar Sharma, DIG JSK Range, who appreciated the contributions of senior officers and the active participation of young officers.
