DODA POLICE BUSTED ILLEGAL POPPY CULTIVATION IN TIPRI AREA; TWO SEPARATE FIRs REGISTERED UNDER NDPS ACTDoda, April 16, 2026:In a significant crackdown on drug-related activities, Doda Police has successfully uncovered illegal poppy cultivation in the Tipri area of Tehsil Thathri. This operation is part of the ongoing commitment to combat the drug menace and enforce the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The breakthrough came after PSI Sahil Verma, while on patrol in Tipri area of Police station Thathri received credible information regarding illegal poppy farming by certain individuals. Acting swiftly, police teams verified the information and confirmed the involvement of the following suspects: *Nazir Ahmed, son of Gh. Mohd, resident of Tipri, Tehsil Thathri, District Doda* *Tanveer Ahmed, son of Mohd Sadiq, resident of Tipri, Tehsil Thathri, District Doda* Both individuals have been found to have illegally cultivated poppy plants in their agricultural fields, violating the NDPS Act. As a result, two separate FIRs have been filed at Police Station Thathri: - **FIR No. 28/2026** under Section 8/18 of the NDPS Act - **FIR No. 29/2026** under Section 8/18 of the NDPS Act Investigations are currently underway, and legal proceedings will follow to ensure accountability.
