On the day of the encounter, he was part of a special team engaged in tracking militants in Srinagar. During the operation, he sustained critical injuries and embraced martyrdom while performing his duty with exceptional courage.The news of his martyrdom brought immense grief to the entire region, especially his hometown Basantgarh, where people remember him as a humble, soft-spoken, and brave officer who always prioritized the safety of the public above everything else.On 18 November 2017, thousands of people, including family members, friends, senior police officials, and local residents, gathered at the District Police Lines Udhampur to pay their last respects during the wreath-laying ceremony. Later, his mortal remains were taken to Basantgarh, where he was laid to rest with full honors. The emotional scenes at his village reflected the respect and love he had earned throughout his career.Leaders, officers, and locals continue to acknowledge his sacrifice, stating that Shaheed Imran Tak will forever be remembered as a symbol of bravery and duty.
